South of France

Artist: Carolyn Richardson

Bio: Painter and film-maker of filmpoems. My work concerns itself with colour and light and my work is in private collections as well as in the Public Catalogue where I have five pieces These works are depicted in the hardback ArtUk book “Cumbria”.
I tend to spend half of the year in the South of France and being there has a great impact on my use of colour and light. The piece (South of France) here was inspired by the pinkish light over the Mediterranean in the early evening and by the vegetation and stone of the South. This summer I couldn’t be in France, but instead I gained a commission from The Stove in Dumfries under the banner of “HomeGrown” where I made a piece concerning plastic waste.
