Bio: After studying painting and Drawing at Leith School of Art, followed by their Critical and Professional development Course, I am now in the process of finding my way as an independent artist. My work is inspired by the tension between our own small lives and the vastness of our universe and time, and the fragility and transience that I see in the world around us. I work mainly in oil or acrylic on board, taking inspiration from the industrial landscape and the natural world.
‘Rust’ came from an Autumn trip to Portugal. As the year turned, and evening fires were lit, fallen quince lay everywhere, slowly returning to the earth. I was fascinated by the rich colours of the slowly decaying fruit, and their similarity to the rusting yellow paint of the metal stair rails and barriers. One organic, one man made, both decaying in a glory of colour.
