Bio: Angus Fernie is an artist born and based in Glasgow. Having graduated in Fine Art Painting and Printmaking from Glasgow School of art in 2018, receiving the James Nicol McBroom Award. Since graduating, Fernie has continued to develop his painting practice exhibiting in various group shows across both London and Glasgow.
Based on the notion that there is a great deal of silliness in our modern-day surroundings, Fernie’s work aims to bring a sense of escapism to the viewer. Building fictitious shadows with vibrant and unnatural colour, the subject sits somewhere between the real and the imagined. The work aims to highlight this absurdity of the mundane by presenting everyday motifs in awkwardly lit, amusing contexts giving the viewer full control of the narrative, allowing them to truly live the ‘Still Life’.
